In honor of Professor P.-H. Lee
July 10–16, 2011 (National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan)

puceThe Conference

PH LeeThis conference honors Professor Pjek-Hwee Lee, a mathematician who devoted his life to research in ring and algebra theory and to promoting mathematics in Taiwan.

Professor Lee received his Ph.D. in 1974 from the University of Chicago under the supervision of Professor Israel Nathan Herstein. He then joined the faculty of the mathematics department of National Taiwan University and spent a life long productive career there.

For the past 36 years, Professor Lee dedicated his life to mathematics research and to training young mathematicians. During that time, he supervised many graduate students. He served as the director of the Mathematics Research Center and the director of the Mathematics Research Promotion Center of the National Science Council and as the Vice President of the Mathematical Society of the Republic of China.

Professor Lee is scheduled to retire in February 2012 after a long and exceptional career at the National Taiwan University.
